GRC is important in the refurbishment and wall decoration of tunnels and underground piping because:

GRC is the ideal material for railway and highway sound barrier construction, the advantages includes:

	Even the thinnest GRC material can offer maximum noise reduction.
	A typical 10mm thickness of GRC with a surface mass of 20kg/㎡ will have average noise reduction of about 30dB. Doubling the thickness will increase the noise reduction to 35dB.
	Weather proof, durable and low maintenance cost.
	Reduced thickness and weight keeps construction budget low.
	GRC can be prefabricated with steel frame and other sound barrier materials as installing units; minimize time, noise and disturbances on-site.
	Attractive decorative designs can be incorporated, no more monotonous surface.
	GRC can be used with other material as a composite noise barrier board.
	Interplay of absorptive, reflective and diffusive boards.

GRC is thinner and lighter than concrete in using as cable ducts:

	Saves time, cost and number of supports in installation. (a workman can install GRC duct up to 2 metres)
	GRC cable ducts, sewage pipes and other non-uniform ducts can be made from permanent molds, offering consistence, flexibility and smoothness.
	GRC is non-combustible and stronger than plastic. Can be used in vent hose and cable duct system for its heat resistant property.
